At Firearms World, we are committed to getting your gear to you safely, securely, and in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. This policy outlines everything you need to know about how we process and ship your order.

1. Order Processing & Handling Time

  • Orders are not processed or shipped on weekends or federal holidays.
  • Standard Processing Time: All orders require 1-3 business days for processing and verification before they leave our warehouse. During high-volume periods (e.g., holidays, sales), this may extend to 4-5 business days.
  • Verification: For the security of all our customers, every order is subject to a manual verification check. This can occasionally cause a delay, and we may contact you for additional information.

Once your order ships, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking number(s).

2. Shipping Methods, Carriers & Costs

We primarily ship via FedEx and UPS for their reliable tracking and secure handling. The shipping method and cost are calculated at checkout based on the size, weight, and destination of your order.

Free Shipping: We offer free standard shipping on orders over $199, excluding taxes and any special fees (e.g., HAZMAT). This offer is subject to change and may not apply to all items or locations.

3. Category-Specific Shipping Rules

This is the most critical section. Please read the rules for the items you are ordering carefully.

🔫 Firearms

  • FFL Requirement: ALL firearms (including receivers/frames) must be shipped to a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder. We cannot ship firearms to a private address.
  • The Process:
    1. At checkout, you will select your chosen FFL dealer from our database or provide their information.
    2. We will verify the FFL’s license.
    3. Once verified, we ship the firearm directly to your chosen FFL.
    4. You will then go to the FFL to complete the mandatory ATF Form 4473 background check and take possession. The FFL will charge a separate transfer fee for this service.
  • Shipping Cost: Firearms ship for a flat rate of $19.99. Use our FFL Finder Tool to locate a dealer near you.

💥 Ammunition

  • Carrier: Ammunition must ship via GROUND SERVICE only (no air shipping).
  • Age Restriction: You must be 21 years or older to purchase handgun ammunition and 18 years or older for rifle/shotgun ammunition. Signature upon delivery from an adult 21+ is required.
  • Restrictions: We cannot ship ammunition to PO Boxes, APO/FPO addresses, or to jurisdictions where it is prohibited by law (e.g., NYC, Chicago, Washington D.C.). See our full State & Local Compliance Guide for details.

⚠️ Reloading Components: Primers & Powder

  • HAZMAT Fee: Primers and smokeless powder are classified as Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) by the U.S. Department of Transportation. A mandatory $19.95 HAZMAT fee is applied to each shipment containing these items.
  • Combining HAZMAT: You can include multiple HAZMAT items (primers, powder) in one order, and you will only be charged one HAZMAT fee per shipment.
  • Restrictions: HAZMAT items are subject to the strictest shipping restrictions. It is your responsibility to ensure these items are legal in your delivery location.

🔭 Scopes, Optics & Accessories

Most non-regulated items like scopes, mounts, slings, and cleaning kits ship via standard methods with no special restrictions. These items typically have the fastest processing and delivery times.

4. Shipping Restrictions & Prohibited Locations

It is the customer’s responsibility to be aware of local laws. We maintain a comprehensive and frequently updated State & Local Compliance Guide. However, as a general rule, we cannot ship any regulated items (especially firearms, magazines, and ammunition) to the following locations:

  • California: Heavily restricted. All firearm shipments must comply with CA DOJ regulations.
  • New York: Particularly restrictive for NYC.
  • New Jersey
  • Massachusetts
  • Maryland
  • Connecticut
  • Hawaii
  • Washington D.C.
  • Chicago, IL
  • Cook County, IL

We reserve the right to cancel any order that violates these restrictions.

5. International Shipping

Firearms World does not ship any products internationally. All sales are confined to the contiguous United States, in compliance with U.S. export control laws.

6. Tracking Your Order & Delivery

  • Tracking: Once your order ships, you will receive a tracking number via email. You can also check the status by logging into your Firearms World Account.
  • Delivery Issues: You are responsible for providing a correct shipping address. We are not liable for packages lost or delayed due to incorrect addresses provided by the customer.
  • Signature Required: For security, shipments containing firearms or ammunition will require an adult signature (21+) upon delivery. The carrier will not leave the package unattended.
  • Lost/Damaged Packages: If your tracking information indicates a package is lost or damaged in transit, you must contact us within 5 business days of the shipped date. We will initiate a trace claim with the carrier.
